While studying to be a senior secondary science educator, Patrick has always placed his passion for music arranging at the forefront of his pastimes for over five years. He values the versatility of music and the ability to shift it into different contexts by manipulating its written meta. His love for music stemmed later in his middle schooling. Interested in the workings of creating an arrangement, he would ceaselessly analyse concert band and orchestral scores and recognised the different compositional techniques. This is where he finds the significance of balancing timbre, texture, and countermelody in the background.
He has regularly performed in small rock bands at school performances as a drummer and was a percussionist in the Northern Territory Music School's senior concert band and community bands such as the Arafura Wind Ensemble. These ensemble experiences have broadened his understanding of instrumental timbre used to colour-in his arrangements and find creative ways to throw them into the limelight.
Back working with his past music educators, Patrick has been regularly arranging for the Northern Territory Music School's ensembles (ranging from concert bands, percussion ensembles, choirs, and guitar ensembles) with a focus on producing repertoire allowing students to stretch their musicianship. These are normally songs that have a unique tang and often have twists and turns; they are its own version of a song. He has also been called in to arrange for the Northern Territory Government's annual combined schools performing arts showcase The BEAT Festival involving a 30-piece orchestra and a 300-voice choir all performing to a selection of songs. This showcase is performed across the Northern Territory spanning from Darwin, Katherine, through to desert-centre Alice Springs.
