Matt is an arranger, composer, trombonist, and musical director based in Melbourne, Australia. Matt has written arrangements for artists such as Ronan Keating, Melanie C, Anthony Callea, Guy Sebastian, Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. and orchestras such as Auckland Philharmonia, Istanbul Symphony, Melbourne Symphony, Sydney Symphony and Australian Philharmonic Orchestra.
Soon after completing his Bachelor of Music (composition) Matt was writing arrangements for most T.V shows that used a live band including Dancing with the Stars, Australias Got Talent, Australian Idol, It Takes Two and The Singing Bee. He quickly established himself as a versatile arranger/transcriber that saw him working for artists from the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Big Bands throughout Europe, U.S.A, Australia, and Asia and orchestras within Australia, Turkey and New Zealand.
He has lent his services as an arranger and trombonist on albums for Chong Lim, Daryl McKenzie Jazz Orchestra, Tim Davies Big Band, Steven Rossitto and The Black Sorrows and between 2012 - 2014 Matt held the role of Head of Arranging for the Victorian State School Spectacular where he oversaw the arranging and printing process of 38+ orchestral works for a professionally staged arena production involving more than 3,000 dance and music students from all over Victoria.
Matt Amys Really Big Band formed in 2004 and held a 4 year residency at Manchester Lane, during that time the band played Matts original compositions and arrangements before the band was disbanded and Manchester Lane closed. While there were no recordings made of the Really Big Band in the early days, a reincarnated version is on its way with plans to record an album and for Matt to pursue his passion of running and writing for this 17 piece monster.
